Wisteria, Ajuga, Mountain Laurel, and Redbud!
Wisteria, Ajuga, Mountain Laurel, and Redbud!
This hidden back patio belonging to our neighbors Orland and Virginia Baker has one of the most prolific and luscious Wisteria bushes that I have ever seen. It is in the middle of a riot of Mountain Laurel (blue), Redbud (fushia), and Ajuga and (purpoe and blue). It is just layer upon layer of Monet’s favorite colors - and of mine too. The small statue has graced the yards of Orland’s family homes since he was a child. No longer a bird bath it is overgrown with sedum. This outvurst only lasts a week or so and then it is back to the wildness of green that takes place in their backyard.

The patio is not the only attraction in their back yard. Night after night we cross this bridge over Wolf Creek that separates the Golf course of Dallas from the homes around the border of the course. Winter snows are rare in Dallas. In anticipation of an photo-op I brought my camera on one of our Husky dog walking evenings and snapped this view in the fresh snow. It is a certified National Wildlife Backyard environment and you just never know what you will find back there.
